Happy Hour

Clip is from Artbound's Episode of Charles Bukowski.
Happy Hour:
Let's meet for a drink.
We don't have to think.
I'll meet you at 8 at The Boot.
I order a shot from the well.
An Old Fashioned for you.
You say you're feeling down.
I'm here to lift you up now.
I'll be here to lift you up.
Even though sometimes it seems like you don't give a fuck about me.
So we take a ride.
The night and this city feel so alive.
And I listen to you laugh.
So we go see the band play and you hand me a beer.
I can't even hear but I like being here with you.
Now we're back in a bar,
we don't have to walk very far.
Order a round.
Cheers to friends.
Oh no, I'm drunk again...
Now we let down the walls and say exactly what we want.
The truth is vulnerable.
Sometimes it takes alcohol to spill our guts.
When we take that first drink it never leads to good.
And on the ride home we know this is bad,
but tonight, I don't want to be right.
I don't want to be right, tonight.

Drink it Down
04:40
|

Intro Clip from "Come Fill the Cup" with James Cagney.
Drink it Down:
Grab that bottle off the shelf,
drink it down
easily.
Had a place you thought you found:
A new town,
palm trees.
Getting caught up in the scene
brought you down legally
Institutions: you rebelled.
Brought you back to
New Jersey.
A decade under the influence came true.
The façade over your eyes,
No more disguise to hide the drink in your hand.
You say no one understands.
But I am only a man:
I can’t save you now, like I couldn’t save you then.
But you’ll never change your ways.
Stuck in the haze about the old days
when I left you in the past.
A bad influence we all moved on without
Excess superfluous.
Where is your purpose in this life?
This place you can’t stand.
You say no one even cares.
But I am only a man:
You’re too far gone now to lend a hand.
And you’re calling at 3am,
But I’m not answering.
You only want my attention
when it’s convenient
And you’re drunk.
I still worry about you from time to time.
But I don’t think you’ll ever find your light.

Half Empty Glass

Intro clip from "Living Inside the Bottle - An Alcoholic Women's Story"
I have got no strength left to save what you have left inside.
I don’t know if there’s time left.
Lacking heart, you are bereft of light.
I don’t know what to say.
I can only be so brave.
I can’t save you.
Whiskey pours, it burns inside.
Not enough warmth to hide what torments you.
A taking frame of what I emanate,
The energy that you anticipate
will be lasting.
We wax and wane and we oscillate
with paradigms that are
low vibrating.
They have to self-intoxicate
and I just don’t resonate
with that anymore.
They can’t put their hand down.
Half empty glass comes with a frown.
It’s not funny anymore.
I find myself being drained by the bad energy.
Attracted to what I know is not good for me.
I can’t always be the rock surround by chaos.
I can’t let myself sink with those who are drowning.
